Pelvic Health for All Women

Nadia and a client both holding onto a kettlebell out in front of them.

Pelvic health is important for all women, regardless of age or life stage. Whether you
are experiencing urinary or fecal incontinence, pelvic pain, low back or hip pain, sexual discomfort (conditions such as vaginismus, hypertonic pelvic floor etc.), pelvic organ prolapse, or other concerns, specialized pelvic floor physiotherapy can provide effective support and relief.

My pelvic health services address a wide variety of conditions with
personalized care plans tailored to your needs and goals. I believe in treating the whole person—considering how factors like posture, breathing, core strength, and lifestyle affect your pelvic wellbeing.
‍

What Can I expect during a pelvic floor assessment?

During your assessment, I will listen carefully to your concerns and medical history to
understand your unique situation.

Assessment of important areas such as general posture, breathing patterns, low back mobility, mid back mobility, core and glute strength are included as these influence pelvic floor health.

With your informed consent, the assessment may include a physical examination of the pelvic floor muscles. This can involve an internal exam—vaginal and/or rectal (depending on your main concerns)—using gentle, gloved palpation to evaluate muscle strength, tone, coordination, and any tenderness. It is important to know that internal exams provide valuable information for diagnosis and treatment planning.

However, you have full control over your comfort throughout the assessment. You can choose to decline the vaginal or rectal exam if you prefer. The assessment can still
proceed with external evaluation and observation, and progress can be made without an internal exam. Your consent is always respected, and you can pause or stop the internal exam at any time.

Following the assessment, you will receive a tailored treatment plan that may include
manual therapy, pelvic floor retraining, exercises, education, and lifestyle advice aimed at improving your symptoms and quality of life!
