Perimenopause/Menopause Care

Perimenopause and menopause bring significant hormonal changes that can affect your pelvic health in many ways. Whether you are experiencing bladder urgency, pelvic pain, prolapse symptoms, vaginal dryness, or sexual discomfort, specialized pelvic floor
physiotherapy can help manage symptoms, improve function, and enhance your quality
of life.
‍
My care during this stage focuses on addressing the complex changes your body is undergoing with sensitivity and evidence-based treatment options. We work together to restore pelvic floor strength, reduce pain and discomfort, and support your overall pelvic wellbeing through personalized plans designed for you.
‍

What to Expect in Your Assessment:

Your first visit involves a comprehensive discussion about your symptoms, health
history, and lifestyle factors. I will ask about any bloodwork/imaging and if you are
currently being monitored by any other health care professionals. We will also discuss medications and/or hormonal therapies if on any.
‍
I will assess posture, breathing patterns, and spinal mobility to understand the impact
on your pelvic health. With your consent, an internal exam may be performed to
evaluate pelvic muscle tone, and tissue health, but external evaluation and therapies
remain available depending on your comfort.

Together, we develop a customized treatment plan that may include manual therapy, pelvic floor retraining, exercises, and lifestyle modifications to address your unique needs. Follow-up appointments will focus on progression of your exercises, manual treatments, and supporting you through this transition with empathy and expertise!
