Your body has been through a remarkable journey, and now it’s time to focus on
healing, restoring strength, and regaining confidence. Whether you delivered vaginally
or by c-section, postpartum recovery care supports your pelvic floor rehabilitation, core
restoration, pain management, scar tissue healing, and safe return to movement and
exercise—all tailored to you!
What to Expect in Your Assessment:
Initial assessment or follow up treatment is typically recommended around 6 weeks
postpartum or whenever you feel ready! If comfortable, we will discuss the birth,
symptoms, and your goals.
I will assess posture, breathing patterns, low back and mid back mobility as well. With
your consent, a gentle internal pelvic floor exam may be performed; however, external
evaluation and care are always available and respected. I will check how the scar tissue
from the natural tear or episiotomy is moving, I will check your pelvic floor strength, signs of prolapse and the overall tone of the pelvic floor muscles. I will also assess the abdominal wall and test for diastasis recti.
If you had a c-section birth, I would also assess the scar tissue at the incision site,
tension in the abdominal wall and diastasis recti. Typically, and internal exam is also
completed following a cesarean birth. Pelvic floor muscles may still have been affected
despite not having a vaginal birth.
After the assessment I will tailor to your unique needs, incorporating manual therapy,
therapeutic exercises, and education about pelvic health and recovery milestones.
Follow up visits are usually recommended to monitor progress, continue treatment,
adjust your program and address any new concerns, ensuring steady, safe recovery!
