Pregnancy Care

Supporting your pelvic health and overall wellbeing throughout pregnancy is essential.

What to expect in your assessment:

Your pregnancy assessment begins with an in-depth conversation about your
pregnancy experience thus far, any concerns, and your birth goals. I evaluate posture, breathing patterns, and spinal mobility to understand your body’s needs.

If you are comfortable, an internal pelvic floor exam may be offered vaginally to assess muscle strength, tension and coordination of the muscles. This part of the assessment is always optional.

Once I get a baseline of everything listed above, I can then create a customized care
plan focused on physical preparation, education and ongoing treatment support.

Key timelines to consider:

  • Perineum Massage (Starting @ 32-34 weeks)
  • Partner Appointment (Any time after 34 weeks)
  • Breathing & Pushing Techniques Session (35 weeks)
  • Hip & Pelvic Mobility Work (Ongoing)

Perineum Massage (Starting @ 32-34 weeks):

Around 32 weeks of your pregnancy, we introduce perineum massage techniques proven to increase flexibility and reduce tearing during childbirth. We will do this most
treatment sessions, but you will also learn the same hands-on methods to prepare this area safely and effectively at home with your partner.

Partner Appointment (Any time after 34 weeks):

‍
This special session includes your birthing partner and focuses on practical labour preparation. Together, we will cover labour stages, effective pushing positions, advocacy skills, and pain relief options. Building teamwork and confidence is a priority.

Breathing & Pushing Techniques Session:

A few appointments are dedicated to teaching you how to breathe through labour contractions, use general pushing methods, and manage different pushing phases-such
as pushing during crowning and techniques for both with and without an epidural. These skills help you feel in control and reduce fatigue.

Hip & Pelvic Mobility Work:

Throughout majority of your treatment appointments, we will incorporate mobility exercises and treatment to maintain alignment and flexibility in hip and pelvis. This
supports optimal fetal positions and easier labour progress.
